In the build up to the Turkish V-Prix, Meteor team principal Shane O’Connell confirmed that Giani Ledesma will return to the team and Formula Virtual in 2020. A reporter questioned Shane regarding the teams 2020 line up and was left in stunned silence when the Meteor team principal sensationally revealed that Ledesma will return to the team six years after leaving. Giani has spent the last four years out of Formula Virtual and was last a reserve driver for FUN back in 2015. The Italian last raced in FV in the sport’s inaugural season where, driving for the then British Meteor team, he achieved a best finish of seventh at Hockenheim in damp conditions. Ledesma was upbeat when asked about his return: “For sure it is a surprise, when I was contacted about the role for 2020. It has been so long since the last time driving and yes lots has changed since I last was in a race, but it’s exciting to be around again and I hope to prove to the team that they make the correct choice.” O’Connell said; “Giani Ledesma has already visited our future hometown Ancona to meet with the Caliri family and settle his contract for 2020. He has a good knowledge of FV from his time between 2013 and 2015 which will be a good thing for the team as we start our first season in full control next year. We have two out of three drivers signed now and the third is very close, then we will make the official announcement for our full line up.”
