Allar Kangur has topped day four of pre-season testing for Mathershaw, with a time over a second quicker than anyone else. Kangur ran on the soft tyres for his first day in the car this season, setting a time of 1:10.545 - the fastest of the test by some seven tenths of a second. Tumo Kinnumen was his closest rival on the Finn's first day as Franklin driver, with a time on the soft tyres roughly equal to that his new team mate Enrique Ruiz set yesterday. Klaas van Snelheid was third in the Downton on the hard tyres - just over 1.3 seconds off the pace - and less than a tenth ahead of Felix Pérez in the FIRST on the mediums. The Mexican's day was not without problems however, as the FIRST stopped with a suspected hydraulics failure before lunch and wasn't seen again. Mario Juan Lopez was fifth in the Meteor on the mediums, just a tenth ahead of Gabriele García - though the North Star driver was another to experience problems and a lack of runnin. The NSR-V04 stopped on track after just two hours of running and brought out the first red flag, smoke billowing from the rear. Seventh - to the surprise of a large portion of the paddock - was Puccio Giodano in the Ocelot. The Japanese team officially unveiled their new car yesterday having previously run in a plain black livery, with the Italian's time and position even more impressive given he was on the Medium tyres. Jean Mattson was less than a tenth behind in the Ingram - also on the mediums - while Marcus Thunder and Rodolfo de la Fuente - the latter getting his first outing in the Andromeda - completed the top ten for two of 2019's new teams, both on the soft tyres. Behind them, Thierry Xylander fared better on his second day in the Phoenix PX2, a 1:13.022 on the mediums some seven tenths - and five positions - better than he managed on the hards on day two. Sebastian Bergkvist was twelfth for Holmqvist on the hard tyres - just under three seconds off of Kangur's time - and ahead of Lewis Ellington, who got Excelsior onto the first page of results for the first time this test with a run on the hard tyres, though five tenths slower than he managed on day two. Towards the bottom of the times Elroy Wagner and Finn Schnyder sandwiched Diego Campos in the Cheema, but both of the teams who joined the series in 2014 also experienced problems. A gearbox issue sidelined Wagner until the last few hours, while - similar to the North Star - Schnyder's AMR ended up parked at the side of track after the Ford engine spluttered to a halt.
