Jochem van Snelheid topped the times on day two of pre-season testing as he made his first appearance as a Franklin driver - albeit in a plan grey livery - having joined the team for 2017 from Lopez. van Snelheid's time of 1:12.288 was set on the soft tyres and was six tenths faster than the quickest time yesterday set by Adrien Simon, also using softs. It was also 1.6 seconds quicker than Ruiz managed on the same tyre compound on the opening day.
Will Hoskins was another driver to make his debut at a new team and put AMR second in the standings once again, albeit six tenths off of the pace. Meanwhile Klaas van Snelheid and Allar Kangur got their first runs as they prepare for their rookie campaigns, ending up fifth and sixth respectively for Downton and DS Mathershaw, both running on the hard tyre compound. The biggest surprises of the day were the differing fortunes of Holmqvist and Meteor. Having only joined the series last year and after finishing last in the constructors, the Swedish outfit were third fastest in the hands of Aron Einarsson - albeit on super softs and one second off the pace. Meanwhile Meteor - who were runners-up to DS Mathershaw last season, found themselves second from bottom. Stuart Harrison - running on the medium tyres - was 2.7 seconds slower than pace-setter van Snelheid. The day ran largely without problems with Klaas van Snelheid completing the most laps for Downton, with the sole red flag caused by a hydraulics problem for Nikolajis Christodoulou in the Westwood after just four laps.
