Ingram today ended the rumours linking various drivers, most notably Rodolfo de la Fuente, to their second seat by announcing Jean Mattson will remain with the team. “We have one of the strongest, if not the strongest, driver line-ups on the grid. Both Nikolai and Jean have proved themselves and are clearly well matched [Mattson and Milkovich were separated by 1 point when this announcement was made]. We would be fools to give that up and have therefore decided to keep Jean for next year.”
When pressed for information regarding the rumours about Mattson potentially leaving to join Franklin, Ingram said “Both our drivers are good enough to challenge for titles so there’s no surprise that Jean had been tipped – however we have had no contact with our technical partners Franklin and hopefully Jean will continue to drive for the team next season.” Concerning test drivers, Ingram commented, “We have a good scouting network set up in the lower formulae and are interested in a few drivers, we shall give a couple a try at the Young Driver Test. For next season we would hope to retain Diego as he is part of the fabric of this team. However, he has been signalling he wants more than just a test role and hopes to move to IndyVirtual for next year. We will thus wait for those teams to confirm before opening talks”
