Downton F1 driver Marcus Thunder has admitted he 'messed up' Qualifying for the Bahrain Grand Prix. After an untidy session the Britain finds himself down in nineteenth on the grid ahead of the race, a position he is far from happy with, even more so considering teammate Nathaniel Powers made the top three. 'Well, that went wrong,' commented a dejected Thunder when quizzed afterwards. 'I messed up, simple as that.'
'I just couldn't get a clean lap in, maybe I was trying too hard, I dunno. Every lap I just made a mistake. There was one where I was on for a good time - top six I've been told - and I threw it all away with a mistake at the final corner. I'm annoyed yeah, with myself.' 'The sad thing is the team have come here with a brilliant car, Nathaniel's up in third for god's sake! So we clearly have speed. But with this dreadful effort from myself we find ourselves towards the back. I'm disappointed because I know this makes it so much harder for the guys tomorrow, and I can only apologise.' 'But we will fight. As I said, we have a quick car and my aim has to be to move forwards. Points are definitely the goal tomorrow. How close we get however, that's a different matter. I'm happy that the strategy should help us, but we'll see.'
