AMR have confirmed that Will Hoskins will race for the team alongside mainstay Felix Beyer, in an announcement a few days before the 2017 challenger's first shakedown at Phillip Island this weekend. The move sees 2016 competitor Lewis Ellington without a race drive for the next season, which the team described as a "mutually understood agreement".
"We are hugely thankful for Lewis's efforts in 2016. It's not easy coming back to a motorsport of this calibre after some time on the sidelines, and Lewis performed admirably with our machinery. We wish him all the best for the future." Neither driver was able to be reached for comment, but Hoskins is understood to be "very grateful" for the decision that will allow him to embark on his fifth Formula Virtual season, at a time it appeared he wouldn't be driving at all. The multi-million pound deal was made possible by two other teams on the grid, in what appears to be a driver loan in conjunction with FUN and one other competitor. His contract has been set for one year. AMR have now completed their line-up for the next season, with Hoskins and Beyer taking on the driving duties, while their other mainstay Jarod Lindsey resumes test and reserve driver duties. Two other newcomers, Ellenor Haugland and Dmytro Kovalenko, are expected to continue racing in feeder series, with Haugland being AMR's first Youth Academy Driver, and Kovalenko assuming reserve duties if needed.
