Puccio Giodano has taken his second pole position in a row for Ocelot, however the session was anything but straightforward for the Italian, who had to overcome mechanical gremlins and was only left with enough time for a single run. Nonetheless Giodano showed his best under pressure, with his effort the only attempt in the entire session under the 85 second barrier. Nathaniel Powers was his closest challenger and looked to have pole position sewn up until Giodano finally emerged from the garage following as yet unknown issues, the defending Champion just over a tenth slower in the end. Allar Kangur's improved qualifying performance shone through again with third ahead of new Ocelot recruit Tumo Kinnumen, while Klaas van Snelheid heads the third row that he shares with Championship leader Adrien Simon. The Frenchman was furious with his best effort that could only put him sixth, blaming a lack of feeling in the car at a track he's previously performed so well at. The Franklin's make up row four ahead of James Vasquez, however for the first time since Germany he will not be joined on the fifth row by his team mate, but instead by Felix Beyer, who out-qualified Will Hoskins in only their second race back together as team mates. Jean Mattson's hydraulics issues from practice manifested once again, consigning the Frenchman to starting at the back of the field. Behind the Holmqvist's were the Phoenix duo with Carson Davenport leading the way - closely followed by the Lopez and North Star cars, with FIRST improving from yesterday and getting the better of both AMR's and Meteor's.
