Enrique Ruiz will remain at Franklin in 2016 as many suspected after Jamie Franklin - a guest commentator at today's Italian V-Prix - confirmed the news during his commentary stint, however the team principal did also announce the team were still evaluating options for an engine supplier for next season. It was suspected Ruiz's contract was renewed as early as the fifth race of the season, but with no announcement coming from driver or team, rumours began to circulate of possible tensions between the two parties, especially given Ruiz's numerous mistakes and the mechanical failures of the Franklin and Honda engine earlier in the season.
Neither party chose to comment at the time, but the announcement now that Ruiz is to remain with the team will come as relief to his supporters, but necessarily those in the paddock who have seen him perform so spectacularly for most of this season. It should be noted though that this has been well documented as a 1-year contract only, something that has confused a large portion of the paddock considering Ruiz's impressive pace this season. Franklin also confirmed a deal was not yet signed with Honda to supply engines in 2016, as they were still evaluating options after the aforementioned problems earlier this season.
