In the wake of the news that popular new team Andromeda will be leaving the sport after only one season, it seems that Formula Virtual is looking for new teams to replace the Brazilian outfit. At this time, it’s mere speculation as to whether there is just one new team that could be joining the virtuous series, or whether multiple teams could be considered. Today, former team principal Adam Willis of the disbanded Excelsior team has announced confirmation that he is throwing his hat back in the ring under a new guise - Osiris. This is not the first time that the name Osiris has been linked with Formula Virtual. Before becoming Excelsior, there were rumours that Osiris would have been the team name of the then US outfit. “I’m pleased to confirm that we have formally contacted Nic Morley about entering the sport once again,” Adam announced this morning during an impromptu press conference. “2019 was a very difficult year for us. We came into the sport with a plan, but I don’t think we really realised the true magnitude of the task of not only fielding a team, but also being competitive. Within just a couple of months, we had not only exceeded our budget, lost our main sponsorship, but we also ruffled a few too many feathers in the paddock. I don’t think we held ourselves to the standards that we expect of ourselves and we are hoping that we receive an opportunity to make up for our past mistakes and participate in a sport that has brought joy to so many people,” “I’d also like to take the opportunity to say how sorry we are to see Andromeda leave the sport as well. They were the benchmark of what a new team ought to be, they carried themselves well, they were incredibly competitive and successful and it’s a shame to see them go after such a short tenure in Formula Virtual,” Adam Willis is the first potential team principal to publicly announce his formal application into Formula Virtual.
