It’s been quite the hectic few weeks for Adam Willis, having been gifted the opportunity to run the Meteor team, before Kaz Armos making a shock return to take back control, and now being offered the chance to run under his own guise. Originally, Willis had made an initial bid for one of the three new teams for 2019, but fell short of the cut, losing out to Ahmed Cheema, Hector Seibel and the returning Lucas Wilson. After events unfolded with Meteor, Adam Willis was given the opportunity to run as the sixteenth team for 2019.
Rumours indicated that Willis would be bringing Osiris Tech to the grid, with the black and green outfit that had been announced as wanting a place earlier this year. “Before I announce anything, I just want to say that I’m so grateful to Nic Morley for affording us this chance. He didn’t have to do this, but obviously I’m so overwhelmed with gratitude that he has. Formula Virtual has quickly become such a huge entity in the Motorsport world, and to now be a part of that feels incredible. With that being said, I would like to officially reveal our 2019 entry,” The black screen behind lights up, revealing the team’s new identity “Excelsior. Whilst we’d have loved to have shown concepts for what we’ll be running next year, we haven’t yet finished the design process, and who doesn’t love these reveals holding a little bit of secrecy? On that note, we won’t be taking any more questions today, but we will leave you with three key pieces of information. Firstly, Marvel will be our main sponsor, Karl Beckenbauer will be running with us for next year, and we shall be running Koenigsegg!” It was later confirmed the team will be based in America alongside FIRST and will use the numbers 7 & 8 which were last used by Rossi. With 16 teams competing in the 2019 Formula Virtual season, its a new era for the sport and certainly an exciting one. Comments are closed.
