Le Mans, 12/1/2019 In an unexpected announcement, DS Automobiles Team Mathershaw have announced that SFR will no longer be their title sponsor for 2019, citing "economic pressures" for the French mobile phone network, instead remaining on board with the team as Communications Partner for the upcoming season. The move has led to speculation within the world of Formula Virtual as to their replacement. While the announcement was unexpected for 2019, it is not without precedent - the French team famously ended a deal with Stella Artois ahead of last season due to European alcohol advertising laws, electing to run without a main sponsor. Instead, it has been announced that Red Bull have stepped into the fold, becoming Title Sponsor for DS Mathershaw, with the official entry to the 2019 Formula Virtual season being Red Bull DS Automobiles Team Mathershaw. This aligns the group with other factory teams from the PSA Group of manufacturers, who run with Red Bull backing on their cars. With regard to the livery, the team have said that it will be revealed in due course - with a "redevelopment" of the livery revealed to much fanfare in Cannes in the pipeline. Notably, Red Bull were present on the Franklin car in previous seasons, though the termination of that deal has made this deal possible. Comments are closed.
