After posting some teaser images last week Downton have finally unveiled the new BD02 in a launch at the teams headquarters in Amesbury.
The car is the second to be built by the team but the first to feature their own engines. They will also be hoping it can earn them more than the sole podium and 10th place in the Constructors that the BD01 did.
Team principal Downton said 'The car looks mega this season. The livery is quite an important part for us - it's quite personal to me - and obviously you can see that has been retained. We have a fantastic new sponsor in Hodders Childrens Books and a huge new signing in Android - with the logo now featured on the car. We've also come up with a unique way to give each driver their own identity on the car by including their name and number on a yellow background with the national flag. We've given it a quick run on our private circuit and it's looked solid so far. We're hopeful of a stronger season than last year.'
Both Nathaniel Powers and Marcus Thunder tested the car and Powers commented that 'it was the easiest car he'd ever had the pleasure to drive.'
Thunder meanwhile went into more detail. 'It definitely feels better than last years. It's more stable and corners a lot smoother. As for the engine it feels quite powerful. Obviously we won't know where we stand until we hit the track but we're all positive of a better season this year.
