"We had a great relationship with Team 23 - and their boss Andae d'Hazorme - and along with everyone else in the paddock were saddened when they left," started Downton team principal Bradley Downton. "When we heard a Dutch V-Prix would be on the cards last season we rang Andae immediately and suggested running in the Team 23 livery, and he loved it! But sadly the V-Prix couldn't go ahead and it never happened."
"Thankfully - despite some problems with Zandvoort - this year we will get a Dutch V-Prix at Assen, and so we saw our chance and plan on taking it. The idea really is just to celebrate Team 23 - who are very sorely missed in the paddock - and in their home country, what could be better?" The cars will run in the famous orange and black colours all weekend, the very same design that Team 23 unveiled as their 2015 livery before withdrawing from the series - albeit with Downtons sponsors.
