Alongside the Downton manufacturer team, technical partners Liverpool - who are becoming the DS manufacturer team in 2016 - and 2015 engine customer Ocelot, will once again run the DS tuned Downton engines, with the team today announcing a they will supply a third customer team.
"We can confirm we have signed a deal to supply a third team with DS Automobiles tuned Downton engines in 2016," Austin confirmed in an interview. "This new deal will run alongside our current agreements with DS and Ocelot, although we cannot yet unveil the identity of this team." Austin also confirmed that Downton would not look to supply any further teams. "I think we've all decided four - including ourselves - is our limit. It gets to a point where you just have to draw a line, because otherwise it could get silly, too much to manage." "Our aim for 2016 as an engine department is - as is everyone's - to be the best. It's clear that Honda have the best engine at the moment and have had for a good time now, and while we've clearly made improvements this year there's still a long way to go. Honda are a huge company, and we want to take the fight to them well and truly, and naturally beat them. Beating Honda would be a huge achievement."
