Downton FV team principal Bradley Downton has tonight moved to defend his team and engine after the earlier complaints from Liverpool team principal Arthur Lapierre. Lapierre claimed 'the thing that holds us back is the engine', and that 'whoever is at fault will be held responsible and replaced'. Downton has personally commented on the criticisms stating, 'I am disappointed Arthur has felt the need to criticise us because his team aren't winning.'
'The engine Liverpool have is identical to our own, and our own is amongst the fastest in the speed traps, so I think he should look a bit closer to home when looking for someone to blame as to the fact they're fallen so much further behind Franklin.' When asked if he'd work with Liverpool and Lapierre to help resolve the issues Downton commented, 'For sure, but I'm not sure what issues need resolving. Arthur mentions they're uncovered some, but without sharing this information, we can't help. I'd also like to add that it was completely their choice to have the engines taken from our workshop and shipped over to Vauxhall to be tuned this year, but we have no idea what they do, as Vauxhall won't allow any of our guys to go with them.' 'I hope we can get this sorted, because they're a great bunch of guys over at Liverpool, and we've really enjoyed working with them up until this point.'
