Virtual Grand Prix bosses and citizens of Sepang are wiping their brows in relief after the much feared tropical cyclone Kitty downgraded before hitting land and also changed course. Kitty was downgraded to a category three before it actually hit land and even then it had changed path and the Sepang area only caught the edges of the storm. Despite this Sepang was still battered by high winds and lashed with torrential rain, although neither caused significant damage and thankfully it is being reported that there is also very little damage anywhere else.
Bradley Downton, who spoke to us yesterday, spoke again today about the time the storm hit. 'It came earlier than we all expected. We were just moving the last of our stuff out this morning and suddenly the winds picked up and the sky became very dark.' 'We were already aware it had lessened in ferocity and changed course so weren't hugely worried but took shelter nonetheless. I then looked outside however to see Lucas [Wilson] looking into the distance, just as it started to chuck it down. Seeing him legging it for cover was possibly one of the funniest moment's I've had in the VGPC.' 'Thankfully there isn't any lasting damage. The circuit and garages are rather flooded and the winds brought a few trees down and ripped some advertising hoardings out of place, but nothing too bad, we had a lucky escape.'
