After the German V-Prix the media caught up with Meteor team principal Shane O’Connell and deputy team principal Guido Caliri, who were visibly livid with the team’s unlucky end to the weekend with a double retirement. FVTV: Shane, Guido; commiserations on those last few laps as you were set for a fantastic result. How has the weekend been overall for you Shane?
O’Connell: It’s hard to hide the disappointment in the whole team after the race. Looking at the positives though we have had a great weekend overall and our pace seems promising for the rest of the year with Lewis doing as well as he is. There are reasons to be upbeat. FVTV: Guido, have you identified the cause for retirements on the cars yet? Caliri: Not quite, no. I’m very angry with reliability this weekend, Infiniti has to provide a better engine for the rest of this season so they can at least get out of Formula V with their heads up. So far they have not proved to be a capable manufacturer, it makes our choice to switch to more obvious Lamborghini. FVTV: On the bright side, at least it seems your driver change should pay off? Caliri: Let’s hope. Lewis deserves better to be truthful. We need to improve our reliability now to give him the chance to fight with the best teams as his ability allows him to do. MJ fight, he led a mediocre race today, but he knows he has to be closer to Ellington. FVTV: That sounds worrying for Lopez, thank you for your time both of you.
