Felix Beyer will replace Tumo Kinnumen at Koenigsegg Team Holmqvist for the upcoming Bahrain V-Prix, with the team citing the Finn had been dropped for his 'unbelievably stupid actions' last time out at Indianapolis. While Kinnumen's team mate Will Hoskins found himself in a surprise lead, Kinnumen was a lap down on his team but on fresher tyres and attempted to unlap himself. Rather than cleanly passing around the outside of turn one, Kinnumen hit the side of Hoskins, and spun himself off, while also costing Hoskins precious seconds and minor damage.
"We could not believe what we were seeing on the pit wall," exclaimed Cory Evans, team principal. "To have your drivers collide is poor, to have them collide while in that position - with one a lap down and one leading - with such a careless move, is just not on. Tumo also damaged Will's car which cost him time and downforce. While this likely made no difference to our result, it is not on." The team have now taken the drastic decision to bench Kinnumen for a race as a result of his actions, drafting in Felix Beyer to replace the Finn amid rumours the Dutchman has signed a contract to race for the team in 2019. "We were able to agree terms with Felix for Bahrain, so he will replace Tumo who will remain at home as punishment for his unbelievably stupid actions in the USA," Evans explained. "We have decided not to use Seb [Bergkvist] for this race as he is in a Championship battle of his own in VWRS and needs to focus on that, not one-off outings far out of the way."
