Felix Beyer will lead Koenigsegg Team Holmqvist in the 2019 Formula Virtual season, the team have confirmed this evening. The team held a brief press conference on Friday evening following practice ahead of the series' 100th race to confirm the news.
"We are delighted to confirm that Felix Beyer will remain with the team in 2019 having joined us halfway through this year, and will lead our charge next season in the #51 car. Felix has been a real asset to the team and we have seen enough in his career and just his two races with us to be sure he is our man going forwards." "We can also confirm that Maximilian Thunström will make the step up to reserve driver in 2019, a role he will fulfil alongside his junior series commitments, which will be announced in due course." The announcement means that Will Hoskins will leave the team after just a single season with the Swedish outfit. Holmqvist previously confirmed the two drivers would compete over the remainder of the season for the seat next season, but when team principal Cory Evans was quizzed as why to the decision had been taken early he waved the question off and the press conference ended. It is rumoured Hoskins has a struck a deal with one of the new teams for 2019 and informed Holmqvist this morning, which could be the reason behind the timing of the announcement.
