Karl Beckenbauer has been handed a one race ban, which will see the German forced to sit out of the Japanese Grand Prix. The decision comes to a blow for Beckenbauer, who has only scored two points within the last five races. On lap one of the Chinese Grand Prix Karl Beckenbauer had made contact with his fellow teammate Adrien Simon, resulting in the German losing his front wing. At the end of lap one it was expected the German would pit for repairs, however instead he missed the pit entry and came to a halt on the main straight. Beckenbauer was seen weaving his car at Jacinto van Slooten as the Downton driver drove past; but Diego Campos wasn't so lucky as he collided into the stranded Mathershaw. This launched Campos into multiple spins eventually hitting the wall. Thankfully Campos has been cleared of any medical problems. Karl Beckenbauer was able to continue, finally pitting but eventually finishing second last in the race.
Karl Beckenbauer has also came under heavy criticism from team managers within the series; including his own team boss Robert Mathershaw. "I am appalled by Karl's driving today. First he hits Adrien in the rear after a terrible decision by him, not the first time either. Then, to make things worse, he ignores team instructions to pit to replace the front wing. If I am being honest, that was the final straw anyway. Then, to make things worse yet again he decides to stop the car on the pit straight, turning onto the racing line!" - Robert Mathershaw. "Firstly, he shouldn't even be on the track, he should have pitted the corner before hand. Secondly, why does he veer into the track? I understand he may have had engine or gearbox trouble which would have caused him to slow down, but why does he turn into the middle of the track? He has no reason too, Diego can do nothing, the rain means he can barely see van Slooten and then, bang, what can he do?" - William Ingram. "This kind of driving is simply unacceptable. Karl was very very stupid in this race. He made the mistake of driving into his teammate and losing his front wing and then decided to skip the pits. He then proceeded to drive slowly down the start finish straight before turning across the track into the path of oncoming cars. Jacinto was lucky to avoid the idiot but poor Diego wasn't, collecting the Mathershaw car in a nasty incident. Beckenbauer then drove off at full speed, what on earth is that all about?! I think he deserves a race ban at the very least, his driving was dangerous and stupid and could have killed someone". - Bradley Downton. After considerations Karl Beckenbauer will be forced to sit out of the Japanese Grand Prix; rumored perhaps to leave Mathershaw with only one car to contest the event. It has also been decided Douglas Bacon, Enzo Domenicalli, and James Harding have not been given any sort of penalties; perhaps controversial. Although series supremo Nic Morley explained why. "Clearly visibility was poor today as we all seen. The incidents between Bacon and Thunder, the Rossi and Molto Veloce driver I have deemed as racing accidents. They looked to have perhaps aquaplaned or missed their braking points. Beckenbauer was been given a one race ban because his antics were much, much worse. Stopping on the pit straight with no reason to is completely unacceptable. More so is weaving against other competitors as they drive past. This caused a rather large incident for Campos in which thankfully he is okay", explained Nic Morley.
