AMR have rolled out their 2020 challenger to little fanfare just days out from the opening round of the 2020 season, confirming speculation the team would run largely unchanged from 2019, but with plans to bring a 'B-spec' car to the fourth round. Hopes for a new livery were dashed upon the launch, but the team have confirmed change is not off the table as they continue to streamline production of the AMR-FV-6 for the European rounds.
"So she's a bit boring sorry, especially if you wanted something different," quipped Adrian Arnello, "but she's a work in progress kind of girl, and we're gonna keep working on her while we prep for 2020. Fancy stuff like paint can come once the new aero bits are done." Arnello's comments hint at major upgrades planned for AMR come Kyalami, from when teams can now introduce more componentry and development, but the livery would "pretty much stay the same". "We're used to a shoestring budget and I'm sure others are used to us being on one, so saving on a bit of paint shouldn't come as a shock," added Arnello. "Besides, it's just gotta look quick, right?" AMR momentarily ruled the headlines by posting the fastest time on Day 4 of the Pre-season Test, albeit on the softest compound tyre. Regardless, the team are looking better poised to catch the increasingly-crowding midfield fight.
