Below are a selection of post race comments from a variety of teams and drivers regarding their Canadian V-Prix. Franklin
Jamie Franklin (team principal) "Little bit of a mixed result today. The car clearly had pace, as demonstrated brilliant by Enrique, but unfortunately we had reliability issues with Elroy’s car. We’ll have to look into whether this was an issue throughout the race he was managing, or something else. Nevertheless, another win on the board is a great feeling, especially by such a margin." Enrique Ruiz (#1 - Q: 1st, R: 1st) ”You know what’s better than winning? Winning twice in a row. The car felt unbelievable out there, I had so much confidence in the car. As I’ve said in the past, it doesn’t matter what happens, I won’t give up on this Championship, and today I proved that again.” Elroy Wagner (#2 - Q: 4th, R: Retired) ”Well done to Ruiz, I guess. Once again, he gets the better strategy and the support of the team. In the mean time, I’m forced to drive alongside wreckless idiots, who have to bang wheels to force an overtake. Not mentioning any names, Hoskins. Maybe he’s bitter for me taking his seat, I don’t know. With the strategy I was on, I was biding my time, but after that aggressive move, I struggled with the car, and it became very difficult to turn in. Eventually the suspension gave out and my bad weekend turned into a miserable one.” Westwood Harry Westwood (team principal) ”The guys had excellent pace today and we were looking stronger this weekend than we have all season. A fantastic drive from Hoskins today and hopefully we can continue this excellent form.” Will Hoskins (#69 - Q: 7th, R: 4th) ”The car was fantastic today, everything just clicked into place. I was very happy with our race and the car is getting faster with every race, so I hope we can keep this level of performance going.” Tumo Kinnumen (#70 - Q: 8th, R: 11th) "Qualifying looked promising, we both made the top ten. Disappointed to finish outside the points but the car was quick today. Hats off to Will, he was superb today." Liverpool Arthur Lapierre (team principal) 'Once again a solid race for us, no spectaculars but good driving from both guys to bring a solid points haul home. We continue our programme of development for 2016, and are very encouraged by our progress alongside DS Automobiles.' Kip Maxwell (#21 - Q: 6th, R: 5th) 'This motor is so much fun to drive. The strategy meant I could push all race, and the Michelin tyres were solid as a rock all the way through. I'm over the moon to have beaten Adrien, but the different strategy called for that to happen really, can't say fairer than that. I hope we see a good hit of pace in America, but I'm having the time of my life here. And mam, look, even more points!' Adrien Simon (#22 - Q: 5th, R: 6th) 'Adrien Simon: 'Here is like a second home to me, especially with my past results being good, plus Montreal is a French speaking country! Today was tough, but we learned a lot about the car and strategy, so we got what we wanted today.' Downton Bradley Downton (team principal) "I feel like I'm getting repetitive, but another points finish, so as a team we're pleased. For the first time in a long while we split the strategies today, and it definitely worked for one car but not the other, so apologies to Nathaniel for that. We need to keep on our toes though, Ingram - and especially Westwood - are closing quickly and close behind in the Championship and our position is far from safe. The lads need to keep working as hard as they always do, and with a bit of luck, I hope we can hold on." Marcus Thunder (Q: 10th, R: 7th) "Once again I extracted the maximum I could from the car today. We had a solid race and result, and the strategy worked well, I keep trying to tell the boss that sometimes doing something different isn't a bad thing. I think I've proved my point!" *laughs* Nathaniel Powers (Q: 9th, R: 10th) "We split the strategies ahead of the race day, which made for some great data, but I think it hurt my race. Nonetheless it was discussed beforehand and I was given first choice on the strategies, so with my engineers we chose that, an error in hindsight but you have to try these things right? Hopefully we can be stronger next time out, I've always enjoyed driving at Indy!" Ingram William Ingram (team principal) "Looks like we are a midtable team now, aim is to finish 5th but that looks unlikely with the upsurge in pace of Westwood. Downton seem to be a little ahead but they’ve already got such a big points gap that I can’t see any way we’ll catch them. Can’t complain with how the race went." Nikolai Milkovich (#37 - Q: 11th, R: 9th) "Slightly disappointed to be behind Jean, but its another few points and I can’t complain about that." Jean Mattson (#38 - Q: 12th, R: 8th) "Nice to battle with the Downtons a bit but another average race. I hope we are faster next year." AMR Ryan Peterson (team owner) ”We’ve seen somewhat of a slump in performance compared to our rival competitors – particularly on the high speed / heavy braking circuits such as Montréal – but we’re confident in our design path at the moment, and I believe the results will reflect that quite soon. To finish outside of the points again takes it toll on team morale, but we’re still very devoted and determined. Let’s see how the Indianapolis circuit treats us in a week’s time!” Felix Beyer (#91 - Q: 13th, R: Retired) ”We haven’t had much luck at the high-speed circuits yet, because our car seems to favour an aero balance advantage and cornering strength rather than outright pace. I think this showed it’s true face this weekend when my engine went on the back straight. It just seems to struggle in the higher gears, and we hit the limiter too hard each lap. We have a fair bit of work being done back at base, though. I think things will start to improve soon – I hope!” Hiroto Nakumaya (#92 - Q: 14th, R: 12th) ”I have a feeling that our car is a bit slower than others, like on the straights! But it feels very good. We can still push hard and race fast, which is all that matters! We think we know where to make changes to go a bit faster.” Meteor Richard Peluso (team principal) "Another race that has seen Meteor perform below my expectations what I bought this team a few months ago. I feel that again the engine is slowing the cars down, and I am especially sorry for Stuart, who, after a strong qualifying and a good start was not allowed to demonstrate his true potential today." Stuart Harrison (#81 - Q: 16th, R: Retired) "I didn’t complete enough of this race to comment. I was let down by the car, again. This is something I expect race on race now, and I feel that this season more than anything is a test session, helping me learn for next season." Arden Hutchinson (#82 - Q: 18th, R: 13th) "13th was the best I could hope for, the engine just isn’t good enough. Doing my own setup this weekend, and practically organising my own strategy and car, this is the best I could do." FUN Dick Diceman (team principal) "We seemed to be able to challenge Meteor and AMR, which is good thing, but still, we were nowhere near scoring more points. I know I’m repeating myself, but we must improve in the near future." Romano Agostino (#3 - Q: 17th, R: 14th) "I had a very nice, peaceful race on my own. At least I brought my car home, unlike my team-mate. At the moment scoring points seems quite impossible, so I’ll just enjoy driving." Carson Davenport (#4 - Q: 15th, R: 17th - Retired) "I don’t really wan’t to talk about the race, but I’m very happy with my new contract. I’m sure next race we will be stronger." Ocelot Rai Miyamoto (team principal) "I think, the race was today was an okay one. It was a shame we couldn’t get the cars higher up the grid especially at a track which I adore however we will continue to work on the 2015 car in hope of a better end to the season." Judson Sikes (#81 - Q: 20th, R: Retired) "It’s a shame that the car had a suspension issue which meant we couldn’t get to the end. I hope for the team that the 2016 car is more reliable however overall it wasn’t too bad of a weekend but we’ll aim to do better." Hugh Dwyer (#82 - Q: 19th, R: 15th) "Its unfortunate for Judson to not be able to finish, I think if a few more things went our way we could have been in with a chance at the points just like Spain but things didn’t go that way, hopefully the reputation the US had will change things for us."
