Meteor cars will feature a revised, though not unfamiliar, blue colour scheme this coming season following a new title sponsorship deal with Visa.
The UK-based squad, who ran their 2014 challenger with TSB and Peugeot backing, revealed their new sponsor at launch event in London on Sunday.
“We are thrilled to welcome Visa, Korres and Bwin to the Meteor family and officially mark the return of Meteor,” said Kazuki Armos, founder and team principal.
“Visa and Meteor may not share a rich history in the world of motorsport yet, but the values of our two brands and our shared passion for racing make this partnership a natural fit. It will be great to see the development of Visa in Formula Virtual in unison with Meteor.”
“The decision to partner with Meteor was a natural one for us as it provides an unparalleled opportunity for the Visa brand to connect with consumers through one of their lifestyle passions, Formula Virtual racing,” said Nicoals Huss, Chief Executive Officer of Visa Europe.
“Meteor and Visa provide a powerful, integrated marketing platform and delivers dynamic opportunities that will strengthen the Visa brand.”
The new-look Meteor team will take to the track for the first time at Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia next year, with their revised driver line-up of Jean Mattson and Stuart Harrison being expected to partner him at the wheel.
“2015 is going to be a fascinating season, with regulation changes of this scale often shaking up the grid and creating opportunities for teams to make a good step forward,” added Armos whose team has shown an impressive first win this season.
“Over the winter we have proved our ambition by making a number of positive changes; we welcome a new driver pairing, new senior technical personnel, and a number of new commercial partners for 2014. In Visa we have a brand that shares a passion for motor racing and winning championships in the future. This partnership is a milestone in our history and we look forward to working closely with Visa over the coming seasons.”
