Wagner was the only driver to break the 91 second barrier with a time of 1:30.637, with his closest rival Simon on a 1:31.367. Ruiz and Giodano both split the timing barrier at a 1:31.374, but with the World Champion having set his time first, he grabbed the top three spot.
Powers and Thunder were a surprise fifth and sixth for Downton, while Beckenbauer and Domenicalli made it four teams filling the top eight grid spots. Tumo Kinnumen of Westwood and Felix Beyer of AMR round out the top ten. The Ingram pairing of Mattson and Milkovich line up on the sixth row ahead of the second Westwood and AMR cars of Hoskins and Nakumaya. Another pair of team mates line up side by side on row eight with Hutchinson pipping Harrison, while Judson Sikes impressed on his debut to line up 17th in the Ocelot while team mate Dwyer was only 21st. Ellington, Agostino and Osterhagen complete the top 20 while Wilson, Davenport and Harding complete the grid. All eyes will be on Franklin tomorrow to see if they can replicate their dominant performance of Australia, while Ruiz will be looking to grab his first points of the season. Eyes will also be on Downton to see if their sudden upturn in form from the season opener can continue into the race.
