Post race comments from a selection of teams and drivers following the 2015 Spanish V-Prix. Downton
Downton (Team principal) "Once again we seemed quite strong, despite what can only be described as a dismal first lap. To have both drivers drop three positions off the start is something we need to look at. We were then running really strong towards the end of the race in third and fifth, so to come away with just eight points eight laps is really frustrating." Thunder (Quali: 6th, Race: 6th) "It wasn’t the best race I’ve ever driven, but we had the pace for a strong finish. The pitstop on the penultimate lap was annoying, but the right call. We had a slow puncture and there was a very real chance of it letting go and us losing everything, so eight points are better than none." Powers (Quali: 4th, Race: 14th/Ret) "Firstly, I’m feeling fine thank you. A little winded but nothing broken, and everything where it should be! It was a bit scary as there was no warning the brakes were going to fail, nothing at all in the telemetry. It’s gutting to lose a potential podium finish – well, to be honest, I’m really p****d off about it, but it no-one’s fault, just one of those things – so let’s look at the positives. We had the pace again, so there’s no reason why we can’t challenge again in… is it Portugal next? Yeah, Portugal next time out." Rossi Giodano (Quali: 9th, Race: Ret) "First of all I would like to offer a huge congratulations to Enzo for his fantastic victory. However personally i’m extremely disappointed. My pace during the first stint was fantastic and i’m sure without the suspension failure I could have won this race today. It’s a real shame because that’s the best the car has felt in my three years with the team. On the bright side it shows the real progress we have been making!" Domenicalli (Quali: 2nd, Race: 1st) "Many people may be surprised by this victory today but i knew even in practice how good the car felt. I have to dedicate this victory to the whole team because they’ve all worked so hard to put us in this position. I feel sorry for Puccio because the result could have been even better with him finishing. I feel that as a team we can use this to kick on and really push for the championship." Ingram Ingram (Team principal) ”What can you do? We let our drivers down today, the pace is good at least but we need to cut down on these reliability errors” Milkovich (Quali: 10th, Race: Ret) ”Didn’t have the balance all weekend, points without the failure? Maybe but we need a better car for next race” Mattson (Quali: 5th, Race: Ret) ”Err, the pace is good and we should have challenged today. I’d like to mention my sadness at the events that have taken place in Paris this week, and to be honest the result doesn’t matter when that tragedy has struck” FUN Diceman (Team principal) "Not much to say really, very disappointed because I feel today we could have scored some points with better luck. Agostino had probably finished 8th or 9th had he made it to the finish, and Davenport, well, I expect him to do much better in the up-coming races. But I must pass my congratulations to Ocelot and especially our former driver Hugh Driver for the first points." Agostino (Quali: 18th, Race: Ret) "Really gutted with my retirement. I could have scored some important points today, but it was not to happen. But I’m quite satisfied with my own performance this weekend, I feel like I got pretty much everything out of the car. Let’s hope for a better next race, I’m sure we’ll score some points soon." Davenport (Quali: 21st, Race: 13th) "I have nothing to say, the car was really awful today." Warrior Lopez (Team principal) "We are very happy to see Harding as high as P11 today. He is a leader and has showed the way yet again since his frightening crash last season in Malaysia. He even quoted on the team radio he was as happy with the car as he was in Melbourne during the weekend and that shone through this weekend. Osterhagen has been struggling this season with the new cars and that is evident in his performances of late, so we are working with him to try and bring him back to his very best." Harding (Quali: 23rd, Race: 12th) "That was probably my second best race of the year behind Melbourne where I scored that point. It is slightly annoying I couldn’t go one better today, but I’m still happy with my work today." Osterhagen (Quali: 20th, Race: Ret) "Just another difficult race for me cut short. We struggled all weekend and it’s been a recurring theme for me unfortunately. Hopefully we can do better soon!" AMR Peterson (Team owner) ”The AMR power unit is a world of difference from last year, and with the chassis built around it, and not for it, our car is seemingly more balanced and grounded compared to last year. Hiroto and Felix are doing a wonderful job of getting the most out of our package. We’ve made vast, positive progress this season, and will continue to work hard both on track and back at home to keep the encouraging results coming!” Beyer (Quali: 11th, Race: 5th) ”We’ve made so many improvements from last year, and it’s so great to see it paying off for us drivers and the team! It’s great fun going head-to-head with some of the front-runners rather than tailing the pack. The car feels right at home on the track lately. Very pleased for Hiroto, and for our best result so far!” Nakumaya (Quali: 13th, Race: 4th) ”So very, very happy for today! My team is doing so well. We are fast on the straights and the grip is great. I could really push the car today! My best finish of my career has me with few words. Just, happy, happy!” Ocelot Miyamoto (Team principal) "The Boys at home and in the garage have all had a great night of celebrating from the race result, we know we didn’t win however we have achieved what we thought wouldn’t be possible in our first season here. But you can bet we won’t just settle down now, I am very pleased the strategies both worked out and our drives who both did a spectacular job to bring the car home!" Sikes (Quali: 17th, Race: 9th) "I am super pleased with the result, it’s fantastic to see us up there for the first time, Assured we were lucky with the amount of accidents but more importantly the strategies worked and we managed to capitalize on the opportunity." Dwyer (Quali: 19th, Race: 10th) "I’m thrilled to see the team scoring points for the first time and it’s honor to be part of such an event which will be memorized for a long time to come in the teams history, it was a great call by the team."
