Less than seven hundredths of a second separated the top three drivers in practice for the Chinese V-Prix as Adrien Simon led Klaas van Snelheid and Enrique Ruiz. Puccio Giodano was just over one tenth of a second off of his new team mate as he made his Franklin debut, with Nathaniel Powers fifth and just over two tenths slower than Simon, indicating any one of five drivers could be in with a shout of pole position. Allar Kangur will be hoping to join that scrap, but will need to improve on his eighth fastest time, and his qualifying pace thus far this season.
Will Hoskins and Tumo Kinnumen put in strong performances for AMR & Westwood respectively, while Viktor Östberg turned heads with the ninth fastest time, outpacing Elroy Wagner by just over one tenth of a second. Nikolajis Christodoulou was another reserve in the car - deputising for Finn Schnyder at Westwood but lapping slower than Tumo Kinnumen - while the third reserve driver - Oleksandr Zozulya in place of Douglas Bacon - failed to get any more than two sectors in when his engine failed down the back straight on his out lap. He still went further than Aleksy Nowosinki however, whose North Star never left the garage. Carson Davenport also endured problems and only completed one slow lap for FUN, but the excitement has built in the paddock ahead of qualifying tomorrow with three teams in the battle for pole position.
