Nathaniel Powers and Adrien Simon's battle for the top spot during practice spilled over into qualifying, but unlike yesterday it was Powers who came out on top and will start on pole position for the Turkish V-Prix. The field closed in during qualifying but third placed Klaas van Snelheid was still nearly two tenths behind Simon, whose lap of 1:30.911 was just over a tenth and a half from Powers pole time of 1:30.748.
Arden Hutchinson put the smiles back on the faces of his FIRST time with a second row start alongside the championship leader, while Franklin mixed with Westwood behind on the third and fourth rows. Karl Beckenbauer and Oleksandr Zozulya rounded out the top ten ahead of the Holmqvist pair. Allar Kangur was frustrated that his practice pace seemed to disappear as he ended up 13th, while Sikes was also disappointed to be eight tenths behind his team mate Beckenbauer in 14th place. Meanwhile James Harding's persistent gearbox issues continued, confining the Australian to starting last on the grid. The Constructors' Championship can be won this weekend by Downton, and if the race finishes as it will start, they will do just that.
