AMR Autosport have launched the AMR-FV-4 online ahead of the 2018 Formula Virtual season, with a radically different livery to reflect not just a change in car, but the changes in team following a troubled 2017 campaign. With a slew of new sponsorship to match, the AMR-FV-4 sports the traditional white and gold held since it's days as Force Australia, along with red and black to symbolise the new co-ownership between three men of German heritage: Arnello, Milner, and Ronson, who uniquely retained the team name of AMR since Australasian Motorsport Research parted ways with Formula V last year. "We think it's quite a nice touch to change it up a little, seeing as so much changed already. We thought, "stuff it, why not?"" stated Arnello via Twitter during the launch campaign. "Out with the old and in with the new. But keep the name of old. But still new!" The AMR-FV-4 features an aerodynamically strong package with basic component adjustments given AMR's limited 2018 budget. They plan to run the last engine designed for the team, the AMR-APUXX18, for at least two seasons while they work on establishing a new engine partner or develop facilities of their own. "We're not gonna be like, "oh yeah we can get podiums no problem"; we know we're in for a long bumpy ride," admitted Ronson, who heads the Mechanical team. "We've not really gotten to test this new unit at all, and we're stuck with it until we organise something better. It's fast, but not 'fast' fast, y'know? Who knows, we might spring a surprise early on." Of equal surprise was the welcome news that 2016 Meteor reserve driver Emma Wilson, who last raced in 2015, would also join the AMR squad as their new Reserve Driver, with race options touted as a possibility. "We honestly felt it was a shame she got so few V-Prix's, seeing how well she did in FV2," said Milner via social media. "We'd love for her to get a second chance at doing what she loves. We believe she still has what it takes." AMR's drivers for 2018, Felix Beyer and Dmytro Kovalenko, had not been reached for comment.
