Following a sub-par performance from the team at the Bahrain V-Prix, team principal Dylan Lopez announced via a facebook live stream who the team would be running in the 2018 season.
"I'm pretty new to all this facebook shenanigans" he started off with, before announcing Elroy Wagner, who has driven in every single race since the series' inception, would be partnered by the 1 race veteran in Viktor Ӧstberg in the new season. Mario Juan Lopez was also announced as the team's new reserve driver. The move, which some argue was one of the worst kept secrets in the sport, confirmed speculation James Harding was on his way out, casting his future in the sport in serious doubt. "First off, we'd love to thank James for everything he's done for the team. It was bloody tough given he's been with us since our first season, but it's a change we simply had to make, and we wish him all the best going forward. We all still remember the delights of China last season like it's the back of our hands. Viktor Ӧstberg has been in our academy for multiple years now, and he also made his FV debut in France earlier this season. He has now finally earned his opportunity to get a full time gig in Formula Virtual and we're anticipating some big things in the long haul. MJ Lopez has also earned a contract thanks to his hard work in VWRS, and we hope to continue developing him and give him his opportunity in the coming seasons."
