Today it was announced that Liverpool would be withdrawing from the Formula Virtual World Championship effective at the end of the season. The entry to the championship will be handed back to the Mathershaw Technology/Lapierre Competition team who ran the franchise since last year, and will continue to compete in FV next year, albeit under a different banner.
Technical director Robert Mathershaw added: 'I would like to thank Liverpool for all of their support over the past season and for the remainder of this one, but both parties have decided it is for the best that we look elsewhere. I'm very optimistic for the future, as I know what Arthur has up his sleeve. He has been working very hard behind the scenes and has in fact been in constant communication with our engine partners Downton, in conjunction with whom we have secured a great deal both for them and for us. I'm hugely excited about the future, and I've already said too much! Watch this space.'
It's thought that the Anglo-French outfit will be running under the name of Arthur Lapierre's eponymous outfit due to the commercial advantages, while day to day operations will be moved solely to the factory in Paul Ricard.
