It was announced overnight that New Zealander Jarod Lindsey will be joining AMR as a Test Driver for the 2016 Formula Virtual season, having spent two years on the sidelines since his 2014 stint with the now-defunct KLM Team 23 squad. Lindsey, who has only raced twice in his career at the highest level, seemed delighted with the decision.
"They're a great bunch of guys, with a close-knit 'homely' feel to their team" he stated. "It feels great to know I'll be behind the wheel again!" AMR will enter their third Formula Virtual season with German Star Alliance airline company Lufthansa, who have come on board as the team's title sponsor for the 2016 championship. They raced previously as Force Australia with BMW power, before being purchased by the Australasian Motorsport Research company last year, who supply the current car technology and power units. Lindsey joins Dutch driver Felix Beyer and returning Englishman Lewis Ellington; each having raced alongside each other before in 2013. When asked about the future of their outbound driver Hiroto Nakumaya, a spokesperson for AMR clarified that there were "no hard feelings with either party". "We are extremely thankful for Hiroto's services to the team, and wish him all the best for the future." A brief hint at the 2016 AMR machine was dropped by Lindsey during a short Q&A through his social media portals. "I can't say much yet, but there's plenty of blue!"
