Press conference
To JF: Who do you think is the better driver, Hoskins or Ruiz? JF: It’s a tough call. Both drivers are great, and have been fantastic this season. Given his age, I think Enrique may have more potential, but right now they are relatively equal. To JF: Statistically, Will Hoskins is the most successful driver on the grid. Why didnt you sign him and why favour Enrique Ruiz? JF: I agree, it might seem odd, but Enrique hasn’t competed in as many races. His performance this year has been impeccable. Of the races he has finished, he has been on the podium every time, and his winning streak is growing as well. It might be that Will is and continues to be the most successful statistically, but Enrique won’t ever be far behind. To JF: Who is replacing Hoskins next year? And do you regret losing him to a rival team in Westwood? JF: We have a few different options. Hirvonen is a likely candidate, as is Luke Stokey. Stokey has shown some great potential in FV2, but there could be a surprise yet. To JF: Many team managers have labelled your actions as ‘disgusting’ and ‘unprofessional’. What do you say to these opinions? JF: I say that we have won 4 Championships. Can any other team say that? I run this team how I feel it should be run to attain the best results. It has worked so far, and I intend to keep it that way. If you look at who has said such things, then you can understand why. Firstly Bradley, who took on Nathaniel last year. He has probably heard some stories from a potentially bitter driver. Then you have Harry, whose concern is that if Will doesn’t take the title, he won’t have the number 1 on his car next year. That’s how I see it anyway, and to me, that makes no difference. In fact, to prove that, there is no chance of us running the number 1 next year. We will continue with 11 and 12 to prove a point. To JF: You failed to secure Nathaniel Powers in 2013, and it looks like you may not secure the Champion this year either. Is your team becoming a joke? JF: *Laughs* Yes, our Championship winning team is an absolute joke. Makes perfect sense. Nathaniel wanted a new challenge last year, and we have different ideals to Will this year. We are, and never will be a joke, we are fierce competitors who will always try to run with the best of them. To JF: Are you going to give Hoskins and Ruiz the same strategy in Mexico, of maybe have Ruiz stop once more? And if it’s the latter and Ruiz wins, do you think people will think that maybe Hoskins lacks the overtaking ability. JF: We are looking to keep them equal for the final race. I don’t think there’s any reason to try and prove a point to anyone. To WH: Has the controversy got anything to do with you moving teams? WH: I guess it’s possible that I’m being put on worse strategies, but what can I do? I’m doing the best I can to retain my lead in the title race, and I can confirm we will be equal in Mexico, and I’m confident I can deliver. To JF: We know you are the ‘bigger’ team in your technical partnership with Ingram, but do you gain anything from them? JF: No doubt about it. Obviously, we can’t necessarily gain outright data from them, but seeing how they are run is always inspiring, not to mention they help with potential young drivers, and the work they have done with Honda has no doubt been a huge asset. Not to mention this guy here. ER: I’d like to add that Will is a great guy, and the whole Ingram team is such a nice team to be with, for sure. To ER: Enrique, how likely do you think it is that you can win the title? ER: For sure, it will be difficult. Will is very fast, but I will be pushing to the maximum to ensure that I win my first Championship.
