It was one of the most thrilling qualifying sessions of the year. The top four on the grid; both Franklin's and Liverpool's covered by less then a tenth of a second. The session was dominated by Franklin and Liverpool, holding the top spot at all times. During the final thirty seconds it was Karl Beckenbauer who was holding on strong on pole. Enrique Ruiz crossed the line to snatch pole, who was then followed by Adrien Simon who then took provisional pole. Karl Beckenbauer had the crowd cheering him on as he entered the pit straight, the German crossed the line to take provisional pole of his teammate. To the crowds and Liverpool's heartache it was Will Hoskins who was the last man over the line to take pole. Lewis Ellington was three tenths behind the top four, the Peugeot driver taking fifth. Puccio Giodano followed with the sixth quickest time, ahead of Nikolai Milkovich and Jean Mattson of Team 23. Nathaniel Powers could only manage the ninth fastest time, as he edged out the Rossi of Enzo Domenicalli. Kurtis Gardner misses out on a top ten start, managing eleventh for Lucas Grand Prix. Hugh Dwyer was next in twelfth: Kinnumen, Abott, Thunder, and Douglas Bacon following the Canadian. Elroy Wagner was seventeenth fastest for him home race. Carson Davenport edged out Lee Fuller for eighteenth, while the Force Australia's of Felix Beyer and Hiroto Nakumaya were next. Diego Campos set the twenty-second fastest time, while the Warrior cars of Osterhagen and Kubat will fill out the back row of the gird. The German Grand Prix will be crucial for the world drivers championship; all four contenders lapped within a tenth of each other. Liverpool will be hoping to put their rotten luck behind them with one of their drivers aiming for a home win. The Franklin drivers will have a fight on their hands and the fans will have a race on theirs. The weekend has been dry so far, however the latest weather reports suggest we may have a downpour during sometime in the race.
