Olsbergs Team Holmqvist have announced the first driver in their 2018 line-up as Tumo Kinnumen, with it confirmed earlier this evening the Finn was to leave Westwood after four years. "We are delighted to confirm Tumo will join us from Westwood for 2018 in the number 52 car," team principal Cory Evans commented. "He is a fantastic driver and former race winner, and we really feel he is exactly the kind of driver to lead us forward."
"He has also proved he is just getting better and better, and we very much hope he can repeat the brilliantly consistent points finishes he has managed so far this year, for us next season." "I am excited to join Holmqvist next year," Kinnumen commented in a press released. "To join a Scandinavian team feels like coming home almost, though I will be very sad to leave Westwood after four great seasons with the team. They gave me great chances and cars for the most part, and enabled me to fight at the front and take my first win, for which I am very grateful. I am hopeful we can have a successful remainder of 2017 to end our relationship on a high." Evans would not be drawn into who will partner Kinnumen in 2018, simply stating "nothing has been decided, but Sebastian Bergkvist will remain with the team in a reserve role once again." Kiara Thunder has a contract with the team for 2018, however rumours coming out of the paddock suggest this may be voided, with reports she may find herself out of a drive as soon as the next race in Austria.
