Formula Virtual's newest team - Olsbergs Team Holmqvist - have this evening announced their driver line-up for the upcoming 2016 season, to much surprise around the paddock. Both the teams race drivers are on loan from other teams - Aron Einarsson from Franklin and Kiara Thunder from Downton - though the latter is a particular shock having previously been announced at Ocelot. Earlier today the team reportedly signed a deal with Brazilian Felipe Cesar, though he will take Einarsson's place at Franklin as reserve driver on a loan deal. Einarsson will drive the number 51 Holmqvist car having spent the 2015 season with the team in FV2, so he will therefore be making his Formula Virtual debut in Australia next weekend. He will become the first Icelandic driver in the sport.
He will be partnered by Briton Kiara Thunder, who also makes her debut in the number 52 car. The Downton driver was originally set to be on a loan deal to Ocelot to partner Karl Beckenbauer, though this has been cancelled to allow Thunder to race for Holmqvist. It is currently unknown who will replace Thunder at Ocelot, though it is rumoured a driver will be signed, and new reserve Hilario Bull will not step up. In a further surprise, Swedish racer Sebastian Bergkvist - who is set to embark on his first season car racing this year in VERS - has been signed as the teams reserve driver. The overalls that the three drivers will wear are shown below.
