Puccio Giodano has claimed his third pole position of the season in style, as the Italian's time was unbeatable all session. The top five drivers remained in close company, under two tenths separating them. It was Adrien Simon who initially claimed provisional pole position to seemingly back up his blistering pace from Friday practice, however the times quickly toppled. Championship leader Nathaniel Powers was quick to take provisional pole from the Frenchman, before it was beaten by Puccio Giodano, whom remained there for the rest of the session.
Giodano was in close company though. The Downton pair of Klaas van Snelheid saved their best laps for last as during the final seconds attempted to beat the Franklin drivers time. However while close, it wasn't good enough, both drivers messing out on pole by under a tenth of a second. Enrique Ruiz and Karl Beckenbauer were also close both drivers under two tenths from pole position. Judson Sikes finished the day in sixth wrapping up a solid day for North Star, while Adrien Simon was seemingly disappointed in seventh. Finn Schynder was eighth quickest for Westwood, beating Arden Hutchinson and Lewis Ellington whom rounded out the top ten. The race tomorrow is expected to be run in cooler conditions, albeit not as cool as the 2016 Canadian V-Prix. Most drivers have opted for the soft tyres, while those few on the super softs could be the ones to watch at the start of the race.
