Following the previously announced agreement between Lucas GP and Peugeot that Regi Abott would race for Lucas GP for the next three rounds has been followed by confirmation that Lewis Ellington will also miss the next three rounds. While the news that Regi Abott will temporarily race for what will be the sister team next season will come as no surprise for fans of the racing series, the news in regard to Lewis Ellington will come as more of a shock.
After a disappointing race in Malaysia for Ellington, Peugeot have been rumoured to be worried about falling off the pace. The team have dismissed these rumours but did notably lose out on positions last season when a replacement in drivers at the end of the season saw results change dramatically. Kazuki Armos revealed that (Lewis) Ellington has been undergoing a few personal problems, which are rumoured to be between Ellington and lawyers of former boss, Zyla, in response to breaking out of a contract. Armos has insisted these are not true and that Ellington should take a holiday, relax and get his head ready for his return in a few rounds. The team have confirmed that while the intention to move Regi Abott over was to allow the honouring on the contracts of Fillipio Fazio and Ivan Lesic for two rounds for one and one to the other, both drivers will now race three rounds each for the team respectively. Fans will be aware that Ivan Lesic raced for the team last year as Meteor, while Fazio is making his racing debut.
