The last two years have been dominated individually by two teams; Franklin and DS, with driver talent not having the opportunity to play a big role. This is set to change from 2017 on wards as the drivers will have much more input in to how the car behaves, akin to the 2013 and 2014 seasons.
"In 2013 and 2014 you could tell who had the quickest car, but you could also notice when an individual driver would make a difference. This is what I think is a very important aspect of our series, and something I think was a little lost during the past couple of years. While teams who spend the money on development absolutely deserve the success they have I believe it's just as important that a talented driver can show his hand. It's about finding the right balance, this is what we will be aiming for for 2017", said Nic Morley. "Since the big regulation changes at the start of 2015 it is clear that the drivers and team performance ratio swings heavily to the latter's favor. I'm not intending to discredit Enrique Ruiz, or Simon and Inman for this year; but we have seen plenty of static two by two orders the past couple of years to see what is going on. Car development will be as important as it's ever been, but the driver to have in your team is once again very important", finished Nic Morley.
