James Austin - the Technical Director of Downton's High Performance Engines - has this afternoon announced that DS Automobiles tuned Downton power will be in the back of eight of the twenty-six cars that are due to line up on the Melbourne grid for the first V-Prix of the 2016 Formula Virtual World Championship.
"We can confirm we have signed a deal to supply a third team with DS Automobiles tuned Downton engines in 2016," Austin confirmed in an interview. "This new deal will run alongside our current agreements with DS and Ocelot, although we cannot yet unveil the identity of this team."
Austin also confirmed that Downton would not look to supply any further teams. "I think we've all decided four - including ourselves - is our limit. It gets to a point where you just have to draw a line, because otherwise it could get silly, too much to manage."
"Our aim for 2016 as an engine department is - as is everyone's - to be the best. It's clear that Honda have the best engine at the moment and have had for a good time now, and while we've clearly made improvements this year there's still a long way to go. Honda are a huge company, and we want to take the fight to them well and truly, and naturally beat them. Beating Honda would be a huge achievement."
