Bradley Downton has this evening stated that he and the entire Downton team are overjoyed with the Constructors Championship victory for technical partners DS Mathershaw. DS Mathershaw became the first team other than Franklin to win the Constructors crown at the 2016 Mexican V-Prix, having been powered all season by Downton-built, DS-tuned engines.
"I want to start off by giving a huge congratulations to Robert, Arthur, and the entire DS Mathershaw team. They have done a fantastic job this season and thoroughly deserve their championship triumph." "It's also a pleasure to have been involved in this story with regards to our technical partnership and our supply of engines. Especially where our season has been far from desired - though more or less what we expected - this triumph has really lifted the entire team, we are absolutely overjoyed for our colleagues and close friends at DS Mathershaw, with whom we work very closely with." "Our engine has proven to be a very strong package, and with the DS tuning that all teams have benefited from, the engine has regularly been topping the speed traps. Sadly with us, it's just been let down by a woeful aerodynamic package, but that is of no discredit to the team at all, they've been given very little to work with this season as part of our long term plan." When asked if he felt this was a mistake Downton paused, "Possibly, yes. But we've been saying for a few years we have a long term plan and it's going to take time. Hopefully we will see the results of this very soon."
