Bradley Downton has tonight confirmed that his Downton FV team have split from long time sponsors Orange Telecommunications. The split has been rumoured over the past month but both sides have declined to comment, until tonight when Downton finally confirmed his teams cars would no longer bear the Orange logo. 'Of course it's a sad day for us,' Downton commented. 'Orange were the first ever company we signed a sponsorship deal with and were even our title sponsor in our very first season, but unfortunately we both saw different things for the future and have decided to mutually part company.'
'I would like to take this opportunity to thank the company for all of their help and support over the past two seasons, even back in 2013 when situations looked dismal. There is no ill feeling between us at all, this is just one of those things.' Downton declined to comment as to whether the split would have any effect on the car's livery - which is thought to be heavily based around the sponsor - or whether the team had another sponsor lined up to replace Orange. Our sources say that it's possible BP will become a bigger force on the car, although the early favourite to replace Orange is Cadburys, with whom the team struck a deal with early in 2013, only for it to collapse before the start of the season.
