Today, Meteor Motorsport have announced the recruitment of Conor Cott who has joined the team as technical director with immediate effect. It is understood that, as part of ongoing budget management issues within the Meteor group, the team have operated largely this season without a technical director role. Rather, the team have orchestrated the technical department with the collective knowledge of a group of senior officials.
An official from the Meteor board today, however, said that 'our technical performance this season has been beyond inadequate. Scoring points, we envisage, will not happen this season. Our year has been the worst, of yet, that we have raced'. 'We consider the persisting negativity to be largely afoot to a lack of leadership within our technical department. As of this week, we have parted way with three of six technical officials. As part of our ongoing drive to ameliorate our performance, we have been joined by a recent aerodynamic graduate, American, Conor Cott'. 'Conor and our reorganised technical and aerodynamic departments will now be entirely focusing attentions on our upcoming car. The goal of Meteor, however, is to strive for success in 2019, the first car produced entirely by our new technical team. 2018, we expect, to be of similar performance to the current season'. In similar news, Meteor also confirmed an extension of their engine agreement with Virgin Motors through to the end of 2018, and the Meteor MM18 will, thusly, be powered by a Virgin VM-03 engine.
