Rumours have been circulating linking a move for Downton test driver Kip Maxwell to another team in the paddock, and these rumours are now confirmed as Westwood Racing confirm that they have purchased Kip Maxwell's contract.
Good afternoon and welcome to the first round of the International Junior Grand Prix Championship, live from the Silverstone Circuit for the British Grand Prix. This race is unique for its position as the season opener, but also due to the fact the winner of the race is awarded the RAC Junior Tourist Trophy, won last year by Vito Certonio for Piuttosto Veloce. Neither team nor driver remain in the series, and the 2014 season will be an intriguing one, with returning drivers including defending champion Luke Stokey with Arqiva Westwood Youth Racing. The racing should be as entertaining as ever, and while we won't be able to give you lap by lap standings or video of the events, this is by far the best way to keep up with both qualifying and the race. And, without further ado, let's begin the qualifying session for the 2014 British Junior Grand Prix. After taking victory in the previous two races and dominating the British Grand Prix last season; Will Hoskins looks like a firm favorite to win his third race in succession. The championship leader started the weekend off well after posting the fastest lap time of the session; a tenth clear of his teammate Enrique Ruiz. Karl Beckenbauer followed in third ahead of Nathaniel Powers and Adrien Simon, Full times below. Drivers - Keith Boston (Westwood), Nikolai Milkovich (Ingram), Romano Agostino (Fun),
Lewis Ellington (Peugeot), Marcus Thunder (Downton), Karl Beckenbauer (Liverpool) PRESS CONFERENCE Please welcome your top three finishers for the Bahrain Grand Prix.
The winner from pole, Will Hoskins, driving for the Franklin Formula One Team. In second, reigning Champion Nathaniel Powers driving for the Downton Formula One Team. And in third, Enrique Ruiz, also from the Franklin Formula One Team. For the third race out of three, everyone did fantastically badly in the predictions championship. Despite this however, we did get a new highest ever score, as Diceman won with eight points, beating the previous highest of seven set by Lucas Wilson in Australia and matched by Harry Westwood and Diceman himself in Malaysia. With eight Diceman has double the points of second placed finishers Juan Pablo Heidfeld and Ryan Peterson.
See the full list of results, and the current standings, below: According to rumours, Team 23's title sponsor KLM is not amused by the lack of performance the team has shown in the first three races of the season. KLM signed to sponsor "a highly-competitive team", however the team is currently struggling to finish in the top ten. The Dutch team has been called a "sinking ship" by some - the team's number one driver Jean Mattson, who finished second in the championship last year, has already signed with Peugeot for next season. The team is already struggling to get their budget sorted out, and losing the team's title sponsor would be almost catastrophic. If the results don't improve, one should not exclude the possibility of KLM walking out mid-season. Following the announced shared sponsorship between LucasGP and Peugeot of TSB, the departure of Lewis Ellington and therefore the cancelled sponsorship from PepsiCo and the axing of Inside Peugeot by BBC, the team have announced a new line up of sponsors in advance of series 3.
Ezequiel Tanner has been announced as the latest driver to join the Peugeot Development Academy. The Brazilian joins drivers Arthur Dubois and Odile Abel, both who are racing for the team in the IJGPC.
'This is a fantastic step forward for me. I was worried initially that my dream of racing at the pinnacle of virtual motorsport was over. I do hope my development role will help me move forward even more', said Tanner. Peugeot also confirmed that Tanner will take on the role of team reserve next season, replacing the outgoing Ivan Lesic and Fillipio Fazio. It is rumoured to be a battle for the remaining Peugeot seat between Arthur Dubois ad Odile Abel. VirtualSport are currently reporting that Dubois is the preferred joins of the management. In other news, Lewis Ellington has announced that he will return to the car as of Round 4. Despite the team announcing the British driver would be missing the next three races after citing personal issues, Ellington will return after missing one round only. It is unconfirmed which of the reserves will be losing their racing seat. |
