While not yet confirmed, it is believed the teams may also be able to decide on other aerodynamic pieces.
The cars will also feature wider tyres which will increase down force throughout the field, while lap records are expected to the broken next year. With the increased down force, the cars will also feature V10 engines, with expectations that the 2018 cars will be the fastest Formula Virtual has ever had. Words such as "incredible", "mighty", and "super fast" were used to describe the new cars. Goodyear will remain as the series sole tyre supplier, however the tyre compounds are yet to be decided.
Next year will also force a rule on where a team must place their car number. The number must be clearly visible from the front nose, no smaller, no higher, than the images below.
"I am very excited for the 2018 season, and we will all be able to witness the faster ever cars in Formula Virtual. Watching the car in action at a private test, wow they go a lot faster. The engine sounds are also vastly different, but the biggest difference to me visually is just how fast the cars go now, through corners and on straights. This is an exciting step forward for Formula Virtual and I expect nothing less than incredible from these cars next year. These cars will be visually appealing, but most importantly will keep the same close and fantastic racing we have seen so far this year. The shark fins are exciting, and while I'm not a massive fan of them, if done right they an look great.", said Nic Morley.
Below are images of the 2018 cars, one with a shark fin, and the other without.
