Below are a selection of post race comments from a variety of teams and drivers regarding their British V-Prix. Franklin
Jamie Franklin (team principal) "To win our home race is a phenomenal feeling, and to have both drivers up there on the podium only serves to intensify the emotion. The team have done an incredible job in turning around the performance from last race, and I want to say a big thank you to Enrique as well, who drove flawlessly all weekend." Enrique Ruiz (#1 - Q: 1st, R: 1st) ”There was a lot of pressure on us to perform this weekend, given my performance in France. To give the team a home victory is a great feeling, and it’s so good to be able to give something back to them after they've shown so much faith in me. Right from the first lap, I’ve been so comfortable this weekend, and I’m hoping this continues into Montreal.” Elroy Wagner (#2 - Q: 4th, R: 3rd) ”I can’t complain today. Thrilled for the team for us both being on the podium, and of course winning here at home again. The fans have been fantastic, and I still have a big gap in the Championship, so I’m happy.” Liverpool Arthur Lapierre (team principal) 'At the start of the development of the new DS Automobiles package for 2016, we are pleased with how today went. We got lots of data which is important, and even with Adrien getting his race ruined by one of the slow cars again, fourth wasn't too bad. Kip showed why we signed him for the rest of the season today. He is solid and we know he has potential for more of the same. I'm annoyed to see Ingram beat Kip after such tactics as going to the pitlane. We pack up for Canada and race again, we think Canada will suit us more.' Kip Maxwell (#21 - Q: 10th, R: 7th) 'So that's what a front-running car feels like! And look Mam, I've got points! I've loved this weekend, the car is so good to drive. I've been working behind the scenes with these guys for a while now, and I hope I've shown a bit of what I'm about today. The development of this B-Spec car is very much with an eye on 2016, so even if the pace doesn't show, we are learning a hell of a lot all the time and I'm honoured to be a part of that. I've got some catching up to do with Adrien of course, he was good out there today, but for my first race weekend in the car, I'm very pleased. Bring on Canada !' Adrien Simon (#22 - Q: 3rd, R: 4th) 'Today was too frustrating for me. I got a great start to take second, and we were holding second very well. Then I got to that idiot in the Ocelot who blocked me totally, and I went down to fourth. I couldn't do any more after that. The new development car is nice to drive, it didn't slide quite as much as the old one, and even a little less than our rivals in the slow part at the start of the lap. The engine was nice too, more smooth than the old one. Canada will be a good race, as it might help our straight line speed, and in Montreal it is always like home for me and the French part of the team.' Downton Bradley Downton (team principal) "More points which is again a great result. Disappointed for Nathaniel though, to lose a place to Mattson because of the Ingram tactics to pit on the final lap and cut three corners of the circuit." Marcus Thunder (Q: 6th, R: 5th) "I think we achieved the maximum we could today. We're clearly slower than Franklin, Rossi and Liverpool, so to finish behind only them, and indeed beat a Liverpool - especially with Kipper driver, I know how quick that lad is! - is a mega result." Nathaniel Powers (Q: 11th, R: 8th) "Was that the best result I've ever had? Absolutely not, I got beaten by my team mate again, but I gained three places from my atrocious qualifying position and had a hella' lot fun getting there! In fact, that was quite possibly one of the most enjoyable races I've ever had in a Formula Virtual car, the battles - with drivers I know and trust in Kip, Will and Tumo - were just incredible. Loved it!" Ingram William Ingram (team principal) "Another good haul of points, especially considering it looks like we’ve slipped behind Westwood in pace, we were running 11th and 12th before other teams decided to switch to a two stopper." Reporter: Any comment on the controversial last lap incident? Ingram: (laughs) "Well we thought we’d try something – it was a slightly faster route and that Liverpool had been slowing us down! I believe Maxwell got the fastest lap through the pits? That’ll keep Liverpool happy." Nikolai Milkovich (#37 - Q: 7th, R: 9th) "Disappointed with 9th, considering I qualified 7th and where Jean finished, the spin really cost me, but we had some pace at the end so its not all bad." Jean Mattson (#38 - Q: 13th, R: 6th) "6th is a good result, we were slow to begin with and it felt like it could be another slog, but last 10 laps or so the car had real pace and if I could have got passed Kip earlier I think 5th was on – and we almost took it at the end!" AMR Ryan Peterson (team owner) ”Today’s result has most definitely put the team and crew’s mind at ease, following what happened at Paul Ricard a week ago. It was a tough race for us, with plenty happening throughout. Both Felix and Hiroto got caught up badly in an incident and it forced us to make one extra stop. Tyre degradation was really severe out there, too. To still salvage a point after all that is good news at the very least!” Felix Beyer (#91 - Q: 12th, R: 10th) ”What a relief it was to see that checkered flag today! Whoa. We had to race really hard today, so I think we’ve earned that point! I had a great battle with Kip until he got me at Copse. He’s a brave man for sure! I don’t really know what happened with the Ocelot midway through, though. I’m sure we didn’t touch, but he ended up sideways and in Hiroto’s path. I feel sorry for him, because we were both on a great run until that.” Hiroto Nakumaya (#92 - Q: 14th, R: 11th) ”I am very sore right now. My neck, it has been hurting for lots of the race when I hit the Ocelot car. I don’t know what happened. I checked the wheel for settings, and then there were cars stopped on the track! Still, we are happy today because we have both cars finishing, and a point too. We thought I would stop for sure. But the car still drove fine!” FUN Dick Diceman (team principal) "Well, another race to forget really. The car just wasn’t fast enough. My boys did what they could." Romano Agostino (#3 - Q: 18th, R: 13th) "I did what I could, but scoring points with this car is just impossible at the moment. Frustrating really." Carson Davenport (#4 - Q: 15th, R: Retired) "Well, suspension failure, I can’t do anything about it can I? It didn’t look likely we’d score any points even if we had made it to the finish though." Warrior James Harding (#25 - Q: 21st, R: 15th) "Looking on the bright side, nothing wrong with a Top 15 placing given tye pace our car is producing. It is still same car we rolled out at Albert Park so we know the going will be tough for this season, even when Karl (Beckenbauer) steps in at the Dutch V-Prix." Abel Osterhagen (#26 - Q: 22nd, R: 17th) "Ever since it was confirmed to me Beckenbauer would be taking my seat, I’ve been pushing 200% every week in a car that has been fun to drive, just slower than everybody as today’s race proved." Westwood Harry Westwood (team principal) ”This was a disappointing result for us today. However we can take some positives from it; our pace is becoming increasingly competitive with every passing V-prix, so we can only hope for the best as the whole teams looks onwards and upwards to Canada and we all hope to bounce back from the disappointment of Silverstone” Will Hoskins (#69 - Q: 9th, R: NC) ”Today we had good pace early on, but had trouble warming our tires and on heavy fuel after the pit stop, and then we had our race cut short, and elected to do some testing at the end of the race. Hopefully Canada will see us continue moving forward.” Tumo Kinnumen (#70 - Q: 8th, R: 16th - Retired) Tumo Kinnumen was still caught up in the medical centre for checkups and was unable to comment after the race. Ocelot Rai Miyamoto (team principal) "First of all, I’d like to apologize to any of the teams which we held up during the race, it was not our intention to ruin or play a part in a race which we were not involved with, I hope if the team principle’s have an issue with this that they come speak to me before heading to the media. Anyway now that’s out of the way, we were unfortunate for the strategy to not go our way this race, however here’s hoping that we can do better in Canada." Judson Sikes (#81 - Q: 20th, R: 18th) "The Strategy didn’t go our way again, which is quite upsetting after all the work the guys put into getting the car above the Warriors, but we were unlucky, however I’m hoping we can turn things round in Canada or the United States where there is a history of crazy things happening." Scott Parsons (#82 - Q: 19th, R: Retired) "It’s unfortunate how the race ended for us, we were doing quite well before the accident, however there are no hard feelings, its a shame to not be able to finish at home where the crowd was fantastic, of course ill miss the next race but I hope to return for the race in the States."
