Austrian Arden Hutchinson has been dropped by the Meteor team in favour of the British Scott Parsons for the coming to V Prix. Meteor made a promising start to the 2015 season but their form has slipped amid rumours of funding shortages, which the team have denied, and a change in ownership.
It will be Parsons's first race since Australia, when he drove for Ocelot. The British drier is expected to race for Meteor in the next two races this season alongside American Stuart Harrison. Parsons made his debut for Downton in 2013 but officially left the team after a securing a seat with the new Ocelot outfit. Parsons was drafted in by Meteor after the South African V Prix as a replacement for the team's number two driver, Arden Hutchinson, as it is understood the team are seeking to evaluate the car performance with a more experienced driver. Meteor's new team principal Richard Peluso said that 'Parsons was chosen as his substitute because of the British drivers experience with Downton, Ocelot, junior series racing and his performance against several teammates'. Upon the announcement, Scott Parsons told the press that 'Its been a pretty rough season for me after being replaced by Hugh, but I’m hoping that the deal with Meteor not only helps them gain information but also helps them climb higher in the standings as that is my goal to help the team, however I also hope the opportunity given to me by Meteor will also show the Ocelot team what I’m able to do when given the chance.' After a strong points result in Australia the team have not been able to reach the same heights again, leading to Peluso drafting in Parsons. Nevertheless, Hutchinson has out-scored Harrison, and lies ahead in the championship eleven points clear of Harrison, who is also in his first Formula Virtual Season. While explicit details of the temporary arrangement between Meteor and Ocelot have not been revealed, Ocelot Team Principle, Rai Miyamoto had the following to say: 'We were extremely pleased when Meteor approached us about loaning Scott to them for a couple of races, eventually we all sat down and agreed to the deal in which it benefited all parties, so with that I am very happy to see what Scott is able to do in the Meteor car.'
